Progress Report

Partnership activities undertaken and the results achieved so far:

In this first year  of  our  project each partner produced activities related to  historical figures and facts or cultural issues of important relevancy for local or national citizenship. We prepared activities to promote citizenship empowerment in students and local community

In October 2008 we presented  information  about  project to parents,  students through  class presentations, school newspaper  and parents letter.

Our first assignment for students was  called  “Who we are”. That was a presentation of classes to all partners.  Students represented their own orientation of study and profession, their hobbies and sport.

In November 2008 we had project meeting in Portugal .

There we had representation of all partners. We represented Slovenian team, Slovenia - country and our school Gimnazija Kranj.  All partners were working on Amazing Europe website http://comenius.ieslasegarra.com/.

After multilateral meeting the coordinator  informed the other teachers and students involved in the project about the results of the multilateral meeting. The results of the multilateral meeting were reported on  Amazing Europe website http://comenius.ieslasegarra.com/.

 In December 2008 our students worked on several assignments:

 “ The School introduces Itself” - presenting the school to all partners. Teachers helped the Students to make their introductions. Our students took pictures, wrote texts in English about their own class, school and communities.  Their introduction was mailed to the other partners.

“Where we live”-  mutual presentation of home towns and countries - students gathered  information about their own town and country and exchanged it with the other partners by e-mail.

Students prepared special wall-newsletters about works on the project and material for website.

 We built Amazing Europe website, where all the presentations and materials from each partner were published. The website included a Blog page.

Students worked on assignment  “Photo challenges Amazing  Europe”.  They took pictures of local cultural and historical places.

 In January 2009  we had first Amazing Europe Web chat for students and teachers, called  “Amazing Europe” youth chat.

In the beginning of february we prepared a box with traditional materials from our country for assignment “Amazing Box” and bilateral teachers  and pupils exchange.

We prepared presentations about the school project, activities with students in different Classes, contacts with local authorities and cultural visits.

In the end of January our students were very successfull in next assignment “Amazing logo Challenge”.  We made our own school logo and won the prize. 

In February  2009  we organized bilateral exchange of teachers and students in Slovenia:

We were hosting students and teachers from Netherlands for a week. We worked on project: “Amazing box”. Our students researched thru internet and encyclopaedias the name and the purpose about objects in box.  Reports were published in internet page.

The Amazing box  from Netherland is exhibited in our school.

After bilateral exchange we presented the results from the exchange in classes and in school plenary. 

In March  2009 our students worked on assignment called “Amazing Poetry”.  We selected two poems, translated in english and published them on  Amazing Europe website.

 Bilateral exchange in The Netherlands: We visited Dutch students. We worked on project: amazing box (representation of typical Slovenian things, food, customs…).

Dutch students researched thru internet and encyclopaedias the name and the purpose about objects we brought in box.  Reports about objects were published in internet page. Our students learned some Dutch  basic sentences. We tought Dutch students our nacional dances. We played puzzles with Slovenian motive, which we made ourselves. Dutch students tought us cooking their nacional meals.

Teacher, who were in The Netherland, informed the other teachers and students involved in the project about the results of the bilateral exchange.

In April  2009 we worked with students on “Amazing folklore” assignment. That was an assignment about  our national music and folklore. We selected music and presented it on Amazing Europe website.

In May 2009 we had a project meeting in England: All partners represented their amazing boxes. Our students represented Slovenian Amazing box to other partners. We worked on project website Amazing Europe.

At the beginning  of June 2009 we presented in school material from the general meeting.  We worked on assignment “Amazing Pictionary”. We created a dictionary with images in slovene language and sent them to all partners.

We were preparing school exhibition to represent the first year results but unfortunately we didn’t finished it yet. We intent to inform the Community, parents and local authorities about the results of the first project year in September 2009.
